Datamax features a wide variety of thermal ribbons. This guide can assist you in selecting the correct ribbon for your application. From basic black wax ribbons excellent for general labeling needs to UL approved label/ribbon combinations, Datamax has the correct ribbon designed to maximize the performance of your Datamax printers.

Quick Ribbon Calculator

Multiply the number of feet per ribbon by 12 to determine the total inches of ribbon per roll. Take that number and divide it by the label repeat (label size plus gap) - this number will give you the amount of labels you can print per ribbon. Then divide the total number of labels by the number of labels per ribbon to calculate how many ribbons you will need to order.

Example:

Purchasing 1,191' ribbon to print 10,000 4" x 6" labels

Ribbon= 1181 x 12=14.172' per ribbon

14,172divided by 6.125 (label repeat) = 2313.8 labels printed per ribbon

10,000 divided by 2313.8=4.3 or 5 ribbons

WAX / RESIN RIBBONS

PGR Plus - Premium Wax / Resin Ribbon

Premium wax resin ribbon with superior smudge and scratch resistance. Sharp edge print quality to maximize barcode scanning at low to high speed printing.

Recommended Applications include: point of purchase labels, shipping and storage labels, lumber and electronic tags.

PGR-A Wax / Resin Ribbon

Wax resin ribbon with very good resistance to smudge. Very good printing quality at high speed ( up to 12 ips ).

Recommended Applications include: Inventory, shipping, pharmaceutical, and retail labeling.

PGR Millennium Wax / Resin Ribbon

An economical wax resin ribbon with good scratch-smear resistance. Excellent edge definition and print quality at high dpi and print speeds up to 10 IPS.

Recommended Applications include: shipping, carton, addressing labels. Small character and graphic printing with 300/400 dpi, general retail, industrial and apparel labeling. Applications requiring moderate scratch and smear resistance,

PGR Millennium Plus - Premium Wax / Resin Ribbon

Premium was resin ribbon formula with strong scratch and smear abrasion resistance on paper, synthetic and polyester material. Excellent edge definition at print speeds of up to 8 IPS

Recommended Applications include: Applications requiring moderate to high scratch - smear resistance. Shipping, carton, and address labeling. heat shrink applications.

RESIN RIBBONS

SDR Resin Ribbon

Resin ribbon with excellent smudge-smear resistance. UL/CSA recognized-meets FDS requirements for indirect food contact. Heat resistant to 400F
